eBid Systems implements emergency security application for Portland homeland security initiative
Seattle, WA - December 6, 2003 – eBid Systems, a provider of hosted contract sourcing and management solutions to industry and public agencies, is pleased to announce the recent launch of a web application designed to help emergency management agencies enhance their disaster preparedness programs.
Local businesses that have the resources to assist in recovering from disasters will be identified under a program created by the newly formed Portland Office of Emergency Management (POEM). On behalf of POEM, eBid Systems created a new online registry that allows businesses who are willing to work with local public agencies on disaster recovery to identify themselves through a new on-line registration form. POEM was formed earlier this year at the initiative of Mayor Vera Katz to better coordinate responses to natural and man-made disasters that may befall the City of Portland.
Tapping local businesses for disaster recovery will both speed the recovery effort because the resources are locally available, and will help the local economy as disaster relief agencies contract with local firms for needed services. Businesses can sign up on http//cityofportland.ebidsystems.com.
“The selection of eBid Systems to help POEM create an online registry of emergency services vendors extends the capabilities of our applications in the homeland security market. We are pleased that the City of Portland selected us for this work and are excited about the opportunity to work with other emergency services agencies that realize the value of having an on-demand application for identifying and communicating with emergency services.” says Keith Jones, eBid Systems President and Founder.
